Hyderabad badminton beauty Jwala Gutta is terribly upset for being bought for a very cheap rate of 18.81 lakh by Delhi franchisee – Delhi Smashers—in the Indian Badminton League competition, auction for which was held on Monday.
Jwala, who was accorded Iconic player status along with top ranker Saina Nehwal, was expecting the minimum of Rs 30 lakh fixed for an iconic player.
However, Jwala being a double’s player, the franchisees did not come forward to buy her at a higher rate as the women’s doubles game was dropped from the IBL schedule.
As a result, only Delhi Smashers came forward to buy her at a nominal rate of Rs 18.81 lakh towards singles tournament.
A visibly disappointed Jwala cried foul, but could not do anything. If she opts out of the game, she would not even Rs 18 lakh. May be it is time for Jwala to seriously think about acting in films so that she could make some quick money. Of course, she has to cut down her weight a lot to take to serious acting!
